About HYSoCC

The Hyderabad Youth Summit on Climate Change began as just a small idea in my head. The Indian Youth Summit on Climate Change was a conference on climate change that i first attended at the Infosys campus in gachibowli,Hyderabad in August 2008. This was my first introduction to IYCN and by the looks of it, i seemed to have settled down with it.

The HYSoCC is a way to make sure that

a) This tradition of conferences continues every year thereby giving more people like me an opportunity to network and meet new people in the environment circles.

b) Focus more on issues of climate change in Hyderabad and understand the actors involved in the whole process.

c) Elections have finished this year and we need to make sure our voices are heard by the new government as soon as it gets into office.

d) This is a great way to engage young students/professionals in climate change issues as the problem affects their future more than anything else and they have to be equipped to face the situation better.

The team I have assembled is more diverse than anything I could ever imagine. Though most of the people are from non-environmental backgrounds, it just goes to show how climate change is going to affect every sector of trade and every part of life and is spurring different people to action. Please read their bio's in the organizers section.

So hoping that the conference goes off great in June, I wish myself and my team good luck!
